Default If they made a Captain America film....

you guys remember the 1990 straight to video version, with Matthew Salinger (son of the writer, J.D. Salinger), Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox, right? i think that movie was really good for a low-budget film, i still own it hahaha. in my opinion Matthew Salinger was a great Steve Rogers/Captain America. i even like the way that they made the suit fitted and comic book acurate, without it lookin stupid in the real world.

the 1990 movie kicks the ass of the "70s live action movie/ tv series" anyday...that 70's live action costume and shield were a freakin joke, compared to this movie version.

just incase some of you guys dont know about this movie, heres the trailer.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTWQcCqa6IQ"]YouTube - Captain America -1990 Trailer-[/ame]

    here are mine:

Brendan Fraser (i always thought he would be a great Steve/Captain but he might be considered too old now for the part).

Brad Pitt (also might be considered too old for the part)

Leonardo DiCaprio (i think he could do it, if he bulked up)

Jensen Ackles (Dean from "Supernatural", he could really do it if he bulked up)

Casper Van Dien (he might be considered too old today too)

my first choice ever was Brendan Fraser. but in my opinion the only guy thats young enough, and has the look and actin skills to play Steve Rogers/Captain America today, is Jensen Ackles.

what are your lists or picks of actors?

By the way that Cap movie you posted above brings back memories, Dick! I think they should find some unknown to really do it justice...

hahaha yea, GAH is just jokin around. if Timberlake does it, the Super Soldier Serum would reject him, even if it was scripted....that serum has more sense than that....even for a chemical. yea Ashley this movie was great. the only thing i didnt like was that they made the Red Skull italian, instead of german...it must be in the "Burton world, Joker killed Wayne's parents" reality hahaha. but this was still a good movie.

hey Ashley which Punisher did you like better, the Lundgren (i killed Apollo Creed and kill aliens that "come in peace but go in pieces", and shoot anythin that moves, even stills of people made of glass, and pray to G-d in sewers) Punisher?

or do you prefer the Jane (i got shot and killed by Doctor Octopus, in Boogie Nights. but im a NY Marvel character, but instead im an ex-FBI agent and for some reason i live in florida instead, and i have to kill Tony Manero and his family, cause he killed my family in Puerto Rico) Punisher? which movie did you like better?

Here's what I don't understand in the Captain America movie: They need to stop this plot and they can only send in one guy...so they send in a guy in bright red, white, and blue with a matching shield. Yeah...way to sneak up on them! Comics accurate, yes, but it needs to be a bit darker to make any sense.

As far as your Punisher question goes, I'm going to step in front of Ashley and say...Tom Jane--hands down, no f-ing question. That Punisher movie was everything a super hero movie should be. You've got grim and grit and people getting shot left and right and killed in imaginative ways (knife through the jaw so you see it in the guys mouth when he screams), but at the same time, lots of comedy relief (i.e. Franks fellow apartment dwellers, the assassin who serenades him in the diner, and the fight with the Russian, aka Kevin Nash) Yes, the Punisher is as grim and bloody as it gets, but comics movies should be fun, too. I was pissed when I heard he wasn't being brought back for Punisher: War Zone, which I'm sure was wall-to-wall violence and hence, boring.

Thomas Jane Punisher no doubt but, I enjoyed Punisher: War-Zone even more than those other two. It was very violent but, it was almost like the comic book came to life on the screen...

i liked both, i havent seen War Zone yet. but since you guys are sayin its violent, im goin to check it out. i was disapointed too, when Jane dropped out, he had the attitude and "voice sound" of what i think the Punisher would sound like. thats why i love Punisher for PC cause its Jane's voice.

the Lundgren Punisher i liked too, even though he most likely didnt shower and didnt wear the Skull emblem, (only on his knives), but he did take alot of Yakuzas in that movie.

i think that has to be one of the best movie quotes ever.

One of the best movie quotes ever was delivered by Dolph Lundgren? Though I guess there is, "I must break you." Haha!

Come on Ashley, you should know I was joking.
I don't consider that Dolph Lundgren piece of crap a Punisher movie. I really enjoyed The Thomas Jane version even though they took a lot of liberties. Thomas Jane is one of my favorite actors and I think he would make an awesome Aquaman, just check him out in "Deep Blue Sea". I liked the Ray Stevenson movie as well, I found the Blu-Ray version for $8 at Blockbuster and scooped it up. I used to enjoy those old Justice League of America issues where people would write in, (It was back when comics actually had letter pages), and list who they would like to see play the various JLA members. I remember Lee Majors was the favorite to play Flash, Jan Michael Vincent was the Atom, and Frank Converse was Green Arrow. I'll have to go back and re-read them for ****s and giggles.

He already was rocking the red suit in the six million dollar man, Farrah could have been Black Canary. I'll have to dig out the issues cause some of the choices were pretty hilarious.

Thank God Lee Majors as The Flash never happened--I would still be living it down. I thought John Wesley Shipp from The Flash TV series was a pretty good Barry Allen. I don't really know who'd make a good one today. Maybe Neil Patrick Harris, since he's been The Flash voice for some of the cartoons already.

I've actually thought George Eads from CSI would make a pretty good Barry Allen. He's got the crime lab stuff down pretty good, and with a little bleach for the hair could look the part too.

Yeah, when I said NPH, I meant as Wally. The guy from CSI would make a good Barry, but I don't know if he'd be in the conversation if it weren't for the crime lab connection. I'd worry more about having a good script, to be honest.

i finally saw Punisher War Zone, and i do prefer Jane as the Punisher, because of his voice, attitude, and actin skills. but i have to say that War Zone is the most comic book acurate Punisher movie ever made so far. this movie makes the Lundgren and Jane movies seem very borin. Ray Stevenson looks just like the comic book Frank Castle/Punisher. i even love the flashbacks of Frank at the park with his family dead, just like the comic book and how the story took place in NYC (even though the only shots of the real NYC in the movie, were the skyline shots but thats it) now i see why maybe Jane didnt do it, because it wasnt goin to match with his Punisher's FBI/Puerto Rico genocide origin.

i love this movie because its so freakin violent, that at times it felt like a slasher film, especially the kills and how Punisher uses "Voorhees strength" and punches through that young wiseguys head. i even love the sound effects of how the bullets rip through the skulls, and how you hear the blood and bones crack. i even love how they made Wayne Knight the sidekick. although in some parts the actin wasnt "Scent of a Woman" Pacino/O'Donnell actin, this movie still kicks alot of ass.

haha yea seriously.... but i love how brutally violent this movie turned out. this movie's violence makes all Paul Verhoeven and Quentin Tarantino films, rated G.
