    Default Hush series 1 Batman

When DC publishes a comic that is popular, DC Direct will probably make a figures based on the art, but when comic is megapopular figures are sure to follow

That was the case with Batman:Hush by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. Every issue of the comic was the bestselling comic of the month it was published. That`s a big thing considering the fact that it lasted for 12 months.

The comic featured almost every important character in Batman history - perfect opportunity for DC direct to create some of DC`s most recognizable characters.

The first wave of figures hit the stores in 2004, and it consisted of:
Batman, The Joker, Poison Ivy, Huntress and Hush

Tonight I`m reviewing none other than Batman himself!

    Packaging:

The boxes for the Hush figures are painted in pale blue color with Batman symbol on the top.
They could have used Jim Lee`s art
which would be perfect, but they didn`t. You can actually see the figures pretty well, the accessories too, but that`s about it. On the right side of the box you can see the head shot of the figure inside and on the left the rest of the figures in the series, and pretty much the same thing on the back. All in all the packaging could have been better.

    Sculpting:

Here`s where this figure really shines! Tim Bruckner (the sculptor) did an excellent job in representing Jim Lee`s art in 3D.
There are a lot of details in this figure, the wrinkles on Batman`s head, on the gloves and on the pouches of the utility belt.

The body of the figure is pretty buff just like in the comic, combine that with square jaw and menacing look on his face and you have got yourself a pretty bad-ass looking Batman. The bat-symbol on his chest is actually sculpted not painted which is neat too. Some people complained that his right foot is a bit crooked but it`s a minor issue if you ask me. The cape is made of rubber and it`s not too long and not too short either, perfect if you ask me.

    Paint:

Not a single issue in this category, not a single paint bleed. The Batman is colored in his classic blue and gray scheme, and the belt is a golden-brown color. The face is colored in standard flesh color. Not much to say here other than-great job DC direct!
There`s also an exclusive black and gray variant which costs a whooping 250$.

    Articulation:

Batman is articulated at neck, shoulders, elbows, right forearm, hips and knees.
Not much really but it works well for display purposes.
The neck itself is actually a ball joint which has a great range of motion. Shoulders are ball joints too but, their movement is restricted by figure`s sculpt.
Overall-good but nothing to write home about

    Accessories:

Every figure in the Hush series comes with a neat Batman logo base, and Bats is no exception. Other than that the figure comes with an extra hand with grappling hook.
They could have at least include a battarang or two but, what can you do?

    Difficulty to find: medium

It`s been four years since this figure appeared in stores. You will have difficulties in finding him in stores, but he is fairly easy to find online. Expect to pay about 30 bucks for him.

    Overall: 4.5/5

Although the figure has its flaws, make no mistake, this is an excellent looking figure-perfect for your display. If you ask me this figure is still THE DC Direct Batman to get ( I never liked the head sculpt on Batman and Son Batman).
If you are looking for a well articulated Batman to play with you might wanna try something else, but if you are looking for a great looking display piece this is the one to get!
