Default I Want A DC Direct Version Of The Entire Super Powers Collection!

I want Action Figures Based On the Art Of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. they already came out with figures based on the art of George Perez. there are more in the makin and thats really cool but why doesnt DC Direct release action figures based on the art of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez ?

his art was the art used in the 80s promos for DC Comics and for the super powers collection cards. its cause of his art that Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians is my favorite incarnation of the super friends. wouldnt it be cool if they did that? or even better why dont they release a DC Direct version of the entire Super Powers Collection and with more characters added.

if they did that im sure many of us retro fans would TILT the Diamond Direct factory for all the quantities of cases we would buy. what do you guys think?

P.S. sorry that the photos look low resolution i wasnt able get better ones. if im able to scan way better ones ill post them.

I second that motion! I would buy all of them! Even extend it out to the Super Powers stuff that he designed that didn't make it to retail before the collapse of the line!

I think we pretty well are getting a redux of the Super Powers line, but it's Mattel that's giving it to us. I don't think you can rely on DC Direct to do anything right anymore. I gave up on them long ago and have switched alegiances to the DCUC. Although with this Gleek fiasco I'm starting to rethink that. Someone always has to throw a "monkey" wrench in things. (See what I did there?....... "monkey" wrench.......... HA).

I am really disappointed with Mattel with the Gleek fiasco. Wonder Twins without Gleek is like Batman without Robin IMO. If they wanted to create an exclusive that you could only get at SDCC and nowhere else, then do a repaint of a character. Some obscure character that you know wouldn't sell at retail and that doesn't have a complimentary character.

That way you get something unique without p!$$!#% off the fans that support the product. I don't see why they can't just release Gleek with a different facial expression or different pose with the Wonder Twins on Mattel.com. That way the scalpers (make no mistake, collector's will not be getting Gleek! Scalpers will be getting Gleek) can still profit off Gleek for those "Die-Hard" fans that have to have one of everything, and the collectors can get a Gleek for their collections.

Yea, it would be cool if they did trow in the vehicles and play sets too. thats true Mattel has thier own version of the Super Powers Collection with figures they have been releasin in the past few years. i dont know why but to me when DC Direct makes figures they just feel more official to me..maybe cause the brand is from DC even tho i know Diamond Direct makes them but you guys know what i mean. the Mattels look cool and have alot of points of articulation but the DC Direct figures usually have better sculpts. i guess i just favor DC Direct more. everytime i think of Mattel i think of Barbie, Masters of the Universe (old and new), and The Marvel Secret Wars Collection. it couldve been worst ToyBiz couldve made them if it still existed if you guys remember that mess from 1989 - 1992 called DC Comics Super Heroes.

Oh yeah, the super powers rip off. Those things were horrible. I still remeber the Lex Luthor figure that had official "punch my self in the forhead" action. That was classic.

hahahahha yea. i remember that figure came with a suit case and a piece.. i wonder if toybiz knew that Superman isnt affected by guns.. the kryptonite ring supes came with wouldve been more understandable for the Lex figure. i still think that toyline was a freakin mess and a waste of plastic and cloth.

I remember getting a Toy Biz Wonder Woman once...if you thought the Super Powers WW wasn't great, the Toy Biz one was even more disproportionate and had a silly knob in her back to activate her action.

I got a DC Direct JLA Classified Flash and it's pretty sad. The sculpt is pretty cool, but he can't stand up unless I turn his feet way out to the sides and put his hands out in front of him. I hate that all these new figures don't turn at the waist...it made it easier to balance them. Also, the round stand he came with has a peg that makes it impossible to stand with both feet on it. That's just lame. At least Mattel has made DCUC nice to pose and balance, with plenty of points of articulation.

I am upset with the way they are doing the Gleek thing, like every collector not going to SDCC that I see. Mattel continues on with "Operation Not Listen to the Target Customer." I'll laugh when they have to eat a bunch of those Wonder Twin sets. I agree with Ashley's points above wholeheartedly. I'll still collect the rest of the waves as they go though; I've been kind of picking and choosing with the 2-packs.

It would be cool to see a Super Powers redux, but Mattel is doing a lot of the characters, though many have changed. The Parademons in wave 8 and Mantis in wave 9 are a nice homage.

Mattel has killed my dreams of a modern superpowers line! How could a 25 year old line still be so much better overall? Mattel at least had more females.

I haven't had 1 problem standing any of my DCUC figures without the use of stands. It was very rare to get a DCD figure that could stand un-aided.

I will say that overall I had no problems standing any of the DCD Ed McGuiness based figures... Those were my favorites and I regret every day selling them...
