Default Hush series 1 Poison Ivy

Hi there, long time no see, since I`m still moving to my new flat my figures still are in their respective boxes, but I will try to do the review and add the pictures later on.

Today we have Poison Ivy, the Mistress of plants! She played a big part in the first half of the Hush storyline so the figure was a must.

    Packaging:

No need to describe it again, read the Batman review for more info. The only
real difference is characters portrait on the right side of the box.

    Sculpting:

This is one of those figures that look great at first glance, but upon a closer inspection you will see that it has quite a few flaws.
First problem is the hair, which seems to be sculpted out of several different parts, which is not the problem, unless you can clearly see it. 2 or 3 separate parts were used for this, and while it might not be a problem for some it is for me.
Second problem is, and you will notice it as soon as you put her on the shelf, she cant freakin stand on her own! Its due to the size of the hair. You will have a lot of trouble finding a position where she can stand fine even with the included base.
But there are good things about the sculpt too, like the sculpted leaves and vines on her body and costume. And the body itself is well proportioned and looks nice overall.

    Paint:

Very good job here. Her skin is all green, which is the way she is depicted in modern comics. Her hair is red of course. There are no paint bleeds around the leaves and the costume, which is colored in darker green.

    Articulation:

Again as with most DC Direct products, the articulation is nothing to write home about, but it works well. Ivy is articulated at the knees and legs- all cut joints.
She is articulated in elbows too, and shoulders have a ball joint which is unfortunately restricted by the sculpt. Head is also a ball joint, but thanks to that big hair, it does not move much.

    Accessories:

Ivy comes with a plastic vine which is not a bad thing, but it looks rather cheap. Its made out of plastic and its really soft, and you can put the vine around her wrists for display purposes.
Plus she comes with the Batman logo base like the rest of the series

    Difficulty to find: easy

Ivy is still quite easy to find, even after all this time. Even online you can get her quite cheap.

    Overall: 3/5

This figure is still with all its flaws a nice display piece (if u can get her to stand that is). It has several sculpt problems which can`t be overlooked, she has a `meh` accessory, nice paint job, standard articulation, so I would say that it is an OK figure but nothing more. The recently released Bolland version looks nicer eventhough I don`t have it, but from the looks of it you might wanna try that one.

Next week I`ll do Hush, and I`ll get the pictures for this one ASAP.

Another spectacular review! I used to have this figure but, the standing problem (as with most female DC Direct figures I have ever had) turned me off, so I sold it... The only female DCD figure I have had that didn't have a problem standing was the McGuiness Wonder Woman... That was an awesome figure, and I wish I kept it and all of them.

Actually catwoman from series 2 has very little trouble standing on her own, I`ll write more thouroughly about in the review. But yeah a lot of people complained about this, it really seems to be a common problem among the DC direct females.

I had CRISIS Supergirl and Harbinger. Constantly had to pick them up of the shelf and stand them back up...
