hey guys, i thought i would make this thread for us fans, of any sport that involves fighting. ive been a fan of boxing since i was about 8 years old, and a fan of mma since i was 10 years old. my first boxing match that i ever saw was Chavez vs Camacho all the way back in 1992. my first mma fights i saw were when i used to watch UFC on PPV back in the mid 90's. back when i first started watchin mma on ufc, the fighters were 1D and the sport seemed savage-like with all the eye gougin and the anythin goes mentality. the sport has evolved and come a long way, todays fighters are 3D in fightin platforms. MMA has also become extremely safe nowadays, compared to its first shows... in my opinion MMA is safer than boxing, unless its Vale Tudo, then Boxing is safer.
as a kid i started with UFC, but im not a fan of UFC anymore.... while i was growin up i always favored and still favor K-1, and Pride FC more (thats when Pride FC wasnt owned by UFC yet), i also like Pancrase and Dream more than UFC. i was first exposed to martial arts when i first saw Van Damme in Bloodsport back in the 80's, thats the first movie that introduced me to martial arts, or better yet MMA. ive been doin martial arts since i was 9 years-old (i prefer martial arts and MMA over boxing though), i have tried MMA and have rolled around with guys who do it for a living, but ive never done anythin pro though, just as a hobby.
im a fan of many fighters, while growin up my top favorite MMA fighters of all time were and are Bas Rutten, and Fedor Emelianenko, they are the ones whos careers ive followed most. in boxing it was and is Oscar De La Hoya, Muhammad Ali, Julio Cesar Chavez, Joe Calzaghe, and Mike Tyson. my favorite martial artists are, Gene LeBell (one of the original pioneers of modern grappling), Lee Jun Fan aka Bruce Lee (founder of Jeet Kune Do and my inspiration to learn martial arts), Jean-Claude Van Damme (i know hes an actor but next to Bruce Lee, hes the first martial artist, that got me interested to learn more about martial arts as a kid), Choi Hong Hi (founder of ITF Taekwon-Do and my first martial art), Masaaki Hatsumi (founder of Bujinkan Ninjutsu), Imi Lichtenfeld (founder of Krav Maga), and Hélio Gracie (founder of modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) just to name the ones that ive concentrated on the most.
i like all sports of fightin, but my base for fightin sports that i enjoy most are Muay Thai and MMA. ill be posting MMA fights, interviews or anythin thats martial arts or fight related in this thread, just as long as there are fight fans or martial artists here at bzzurkk.
does anyone else here do martial arts or follow MMA, boxing or any fighting sport? and if you do, who are your favorite fighters or martial artists?
