Eclipso is the first of 2 spirits in this wave, the spirit of wrath. He uses shards of the black diamond, Heart of Darkness, to possess humans and superheroes alike, also taking possession of their special abilities. For a character with such unusual abilities, we get a figure that is just as unusual. First off, Eclipso’s head is very well done, though a little goofy. He has giant elf ears and an elf hood that remind me of Link from the Legend of Zelda. Half of his face is blue, which I believe indicates his possession by the black diamond. He features an unearthly smile that goes so wide it seems inhuman—a nice touch. Apparently, though, he goes to the same dentist as Desaad.
The second unusual feature of this figure is his left hand, which holds the shard between his thumb and forefinger, like he’s showing it to you before he takes you over. The diamond isn’t black, but a transluscent purple, which was obviously molded separately from the hand.
His other hand is also well done, an open fingered hand similar to wave 11’s Deadman. I hope this hand is used in the future so that so many figures don’t have 2 “punch” hands. Eclipso’s collar and belt are sculpted separately, though the belt has a visible horizontal seam in the plastic and features the light orange wash (which I assume is to provide shading) that I don’t care for. Unfortunately, the rest of the figure is as ordinary as the head and hands are unique. The white trim, chest symbol, and the bottom of his trunks are simply painted on. The white is well done, but the symbol is hard to see where black meets purple and the black purple separation on the legs is pretty blurry. Eclipso comes with the collector pin and Darkseid’s right leg.
Aside from the unique head and hand sculpt, Eclipso is nothing more than average for this line, which is indicated below.
